Thursday!

We did a fun science experiment today with shaving cream, water, and food coloring simulating how clouds rain. The students really enjoyed this! Ask your student about it and see what they learned.

Homework:
1-Baggie book reading and writing. (3-5 Sentences)
2-Math page 150-Its about time.

There is no spelling! We tested today.

Please remember to send your child's January reading coupons so that they can get their reward!

Sorry that this is a bit late!

There were no baggie books sent home tonight. The teacher that changes them to new ones was sick today.

We started a math paper today and the backside was sent home for homework if it was not finished in class. I do know that a few students finished, but not everyone did.

We are testing on our spelling words tomorrow! Please study your words tonight!

Don't forget to finish your reading coupons and send them back to school for January so your child can earn a super hero shield. If you student earns four shields they can earn a ice cream party with Mrs. Barnum!

Tuesday

Homework tonight is the usual.

1-Baggie book reading and writing.
2-Spelling words. We will be testing on THURSDAY because we have an assembly Friday morning. Please encourage your student to practice their words!

A few weeks a go your student should have brought home a bright yellow reading calendar. There are some reading coupons that came home with this same calendar. If you student has fulfilled the reading requirements to earn a coupon please return it to school on THURSDAY! The students are working towards earning an ice-cream party with Mrs. Barnum. Students that earn four coupons will earn a place at the party. Please encourage your student to read for 20 minutes everyday!

It was an awesome day in Second Grade!!

Here is what we did today...

Learned about sequencing stories,
Read about x-rays and ambulances,
Finished up a math test,
Learned about clouds!

     **write 3-5 sentences about what you read
2-Spelling words--we are repeating the words from last week, practice hard for our test on Friday!

Parents!

This week is going by so quickly. Having Monday off has thrown off our schedule a bit this week!

The only homework tonight is baggie book reading/writing and spelling.

Tomorrow is our Celebration of the Arts Day! We are so excited! We will be doing art rotations in the afternoon to complete several different art projects. There is a parent night at 7pm. Please come down the hall to our room. We have our class mural posted outside our door. The students will also pick their favorite project from the day to display on our  bulletin board. We are excited to show off our work!

Monday Announcments

We had an awesome day in Second Grade today! I love coming to school everyday and working with your children. We have an awesome class and I am so glad that I get to be a part of it!

Homework tonight is reading for 20 minutes from baggie books and writing 3-5 sentences about what was read. Spelling words were also sent home. Practice hard for our test on Friday!!

This week is Art Week. We will be doing several art projects throughout the week. Thursday night there is a parent night at 7 pm. Please stop by our classroom and check out our mural by our door!

We had an awesome day today! We had a lot of fun having a jumping contest with plastic frogs. Ask your child about this activity. Pictures will be posted this weekend.

We have been writing personal narratives this week. We will continue to work on these for a few awhile.

Homework tonight is reading and writing for your child's baggie book and spelling. Our spelling test is tomorrow! Study hard!

Wednesday Homework

We had a great day in Second Grade today!!

Here is homework for tonight:
1. Read your baggie book for 20 minutes.
2. Write 3-5 sentences in your reading log about what you read for 20 minutes. I would like you to write these sentences even if you do not finish your book!
3. Practice spelling words.

(There were a few kids that did not bring back their math homework from last night. This is a quick reminder to finish it and send it back!)

We are working on making Class Dojo a bigger part of our classroom. Today the students made up and chose their own rewards and consequences for earning certain amounts of points. I am working on getting email addresses entered into Class Dojo so that emails will be sent home every Friday about your child.

Tomorrow we will be having a plastic frog jumping contest! The kids are excited about this activity! I hope to be able to take pictures of what the kids are doing and post a few here on the blog.

Look for an email that will be sent out later today.

3. There were two math papers sent home for homework today.
     **Pages 165-168 need to be completed and brought back tomorrow.


The Evening of the Arts will be held next Thursday evening. We have fun art projects planned to do all next week. If you are available to help in our room with art projects next week please send me an email of when you will be available. Based off of when parents can help I will schedule our classroom art projects. Thank you so much for your willingness to help!!

Monday Announcements

Hello!

We had an excellent day in class today! The students came ready to learn and worked hard!

Homework tonight is:

1. 20 minutes of reading from baggie book.
2. Write 3-5 sentences about what you read in your reading log.
       *Please write the date and have a parent sign!
3. Spelling. New word lists were sent home today. Please practice for our text on Friday!!

There is no math homework tonight. We are learning about measurement in math. Today we introduced perimeter. Ask your child if they can remember what perimeter means and if they can find the perimeter of a small shape.

We are going to be cleaning out cubbies over the next few days. I am calling each child individually to help them clean out there cubby and making sure they put their papers in their backpacks. Your child might bring home several papers over the next few days that are for you to keep. I will let you know if something needs to come back to me.
